Politicians should where jackets like Nascar. That way we can see all their sponsors.

Yeah, I'd rather vote for a pol that's in the pocket of Coca-Cola over a pol in the pocket of something like a weapons manufacturer. Last time I checked soda never blew somebody up. Unless you count fattening them up and blowing up their heart, but that's a different subject.

That would be a nice skit, have a real guy sign up to run for town mayor of some shitburg and go around to the local businesses offering to wear their logo for donations and campaign with the slogan "A dollar for me is a vote for yourself!"

If we are seriously discussing that what is the threshold for a patch on the jacket? $20,000? $10,000?

Also if I bundled contributions do they each get their own patch or are they all under my company patch ?

The hard part is starting it.

100,000 of us started it last night. It was fun as fuck. You should come to the next meeting.

i really don;t care about money and my dream car is a VW it's a small car with not much fancy going for it. I would run for office but i feel like no one would believe i just don't care about fancy things.

I have good food, good friends and a place to live that's all i need. I also fear if i ever ran for office i'd be killed a few months into it once they realized i can't be bought.

The money isn't for the politicians to pocket for the most part. It's for them to use to remain in power. Because you don't have money, you'd never get elected.

. . . except for the fancy price tag.

Seriously, for much less, you can buy much more from like Hyundai or Kia. Even Honda, still.

More likely that those with money, power, and vested interests against you would throw their resources at smear campaigns and digging up anything to discredit you and destroy your reputation. Do not forget that the mass media are also bought and paid for and are among those buying political interests - they will tip the scales out of balance for or against you depending who is paying to play the game.

"The truth requires that we call the corrosion of money in politics what it is – it is a form of corruption and it muzzles more Americans than it empowers, and it is an imbalance that the world has taught us can only sow the seeds of unrest."

Some of these people sound honest, not corrupt. If you guys don't fix this problem soon, it will precipitate your second civil war.

I'm not really ready for a civil war, but I'm sure as hell ready for a revolution. Just get it all out there, tear it all down. The United States is such a corrupt, disjointed, fucked up mess that there is no way to fix it. Just start over. I just don't know how long I'll have to wait before the majority of the rest of the country feels the same.

You realize that what you call a revolution would in fact be a civil war? Don't you think you might not reach 100% consensus prior to laugh? If you fail to reform the system, there will be blood.

Wouldn't it be great if huge groups of people could organize and burn the rot out of the political system with solely publicly funded campaigns subject to full citizen audit.

Even though they're corrupt at least they're honest about it.

It's not just money. It's bribes.
