I think that controlled demolitions are not all at once because that would spread more rubble or something. It doesn't mean that they can't be all at once.

Controlled demolition usually involve explosives in the supports. Technicians time these explosives so that the first explosion sets the direction of fall, like a first cut to fell a tree.
Given the damage to the Verizon building one must conclude WTC7, aimed for the Verizon building, the controlled demolition was done by a man amateurs, or it went down as we're told.

Why would they want to carefully aim the building if it was to appear that the collapse was due to fire and damage?
