Socialism vs liberty is a false dichotomy. Unless you want to talk about capitalism vs liberty? Socialism doesn't want your guns or any other right anymore than Capitalism does. Its an economic system, we would still be a republic.

This is also stupid. It's not like Bernie would take USA from capitalism to socialism. You don't live in total capitalism either. There are a few shades of gray there. Bernie isn't going to take all production stuff from entrepreneurs to the nation. Just like we in Finland don't live in socialism, even if it might look like that from USA.

The United States has not been a republic since the early 1900s. It has also never been a democracy. It could only be described accurately as either an aristocracy or an oligarchy. Lately it's been an oligarchy.
