Hitler didn't want to kill innocent civilians, he actually had the upmost respect for the British Empire, he wanted to preserve the British Empire. He also wanted parity with the British Empire and he wanted to get the world off of Germany's back from an unfair deal maid after the WW1, which included territory taken from Germany. He made at least 30 peace attempts with Britain, but it was Britain that would not make a deal. Nobody in Germany was happy about bombing Britain, it was the other way around, the allies celebrated the bombing of hundreds of thousands of innocent german civilians in bombing raids that matched hiroshima and nagasaki.

I don't know what history book you're looking at.....

Just as it wasn't Germany or it's people who made the attempt at peace, I find it relevant to point out it wasn't Britain or it's people who refused, it was the Zionist Churchill. And regarding the bombing of Dresden and the people supposedly being happy about it, I don't think that's accurate, if you have a source for your claims it would be nice to see it.

According to Max Hastings, by February 1945, attacks upon German cities had become largely irrelevant to the outcome of the war and the name of Dresden resonated with cultured people all over Europe—"the home of so much charm and beauty, a refuge for Trollope's heroines, a landmark of the Grand Tour." He writes that the bombing was the first time the public in Allied countries seriously questioned the military actions used to defeat the Germans.
