Uh
1) many people, including gerhshom sholem, believe that certain forms of judaism ARE satanic. Kabbala, for one.
2) whether he is an atheist is irrelevant to the question of whether he is Jewish. Most Jews in the USA who attend reform synagogues are actually atheists. They are Jews by ancestry.

But not necessarily ideology. Kabbalah is a cultic offshoot, has much in common with Platonic dualism or Sethian gnosticism. Technically all satanic, but based on Marx's writing not where he was.
Most of us are [some old people or another] by ancestry that does not force us to adhere to an inherited ideology or world view, particularly if we had little exposure to it or learned to dislike it.
While demonstrably true that many jews go for these Utopian lies like communism or humanism (both atheist religions), being Jewish is not necessary nor is one forced to. I think that's the point several people have made. Lots of ethnic Slavs went for it, and lots of other groups, in part at least, have gone for equally stupid ideas under different guise.
It come off as intellectually lazy to write off someone who is responsible on large part for untold misery to mere ethnicity. We can talk about why some ethnic groups show up in these movements frequently, but it does a disservice to our own intelligence to just say " well duh he's a jew".
