I don't think so and here is why.
Outside of large metropolitan areas even the bluest is state is strongly conservative take California for instance.
What we see in the U.S is exactly the same situation as what is happening in France. Large liberal metro areas suck in all the wealth at the expense of poor rural areas.
Second reason I don't think the U.S will balkanize is most people view themselves as American first and don't really identity with an individual state

Balkanization won't happen along state lines, that's laughable. It'll happen along racial lines, and how much territory they are able to claim. How every nation is formed.

I could see a very violent civil war happening between liberal urbanites and the working class who are tired of their shit.
I'd watch closely what is happening in france. as a good example of what's to come
