I'm sure it's not all of it, but I've seen video's of how you guys fight, and nobody consumes ammo faster in this world than the American soldier. Two guys in a house? Drop a five hundred pound bomb on them:)
Hell, you even have vehicles to carry the vehicles that carry all of that extra ammunition for you.
It's the American way!

I'd agree on you if we were chucking tomahawks (~$1M price tag) but doing a run with unguilded bombs is only about $500 per bomb - $25k per bomb. Those fun vids of vietnam bombing runs were the cheaper stuff.
But, most of this is already accounted for and on the books.

Orbital defense sats are not on the books, and quite expensive. $10 trillion just isn't what it used to be.
I don't actually believe the guys at the Pentagon stole that money - it's kind of hard to hide that much. However, they did engage in active global combat ops for more than fifteen straight years - and spending more than a half trillion per year on combat I can see. Fighting in Africa and all through the Middle East, and parts of Asia, plus space ops, plus secret stuff - plus plus plus... it does add up over time.
Also, they've been tunneling like gofers under the US, building underground bases like mad. That's not cheap either. Have you seen the size of those bases? Thousands of miles worth of tunnels. The military has been very busy, and not just ours - the Russians and Chinese have also been very busy as well. Everybody is digging in.
These days it's $20 trillion here, $10 trillion there. Remember the Lehman brothers banking crisis? - just bailing out the housing collapse and all of the NINA loans was $15 trillion. The Pentagon overspending $10 trillion during this period is actually one of the smaller numbers. Trillion is the new billion when it costs $100 to buy a new pair of shoes.
