The government's always the biggest threat. Wars, debt, democide, comple societal collapse, etc. We're not even allowed to protect our own border right now without fear of retribution from our own government, that's really bad.

Democratic (includes republic) govts are the biggest threat to its own people. A monarchy has more incentive to produce legitimate results, not just empty promises. Why would a king run his own country into debt? With the invention of the gun, we should re attempt monarchy. The nation supports a king that would never take their weaponry. The nation supports a king that defends from invaders.
We've done democracy/republics enough throughout history to have a clear record that all all of the claims against monarchy are expressed 3 fold in a system that allows votes.
What is popular is not always right. What is right is not always popular.
I know among Americans, liberty precedes all. Instead I believe voting is a distraction the elites provide. Voting is a drug. Highly stimulating, distracting from cold reality that we are all slaves, false sense of reward, energy spent that you believe you are improving society but you are giving power to people you can't hold accountable. I used to be libertarian, until I learned more about monarchies and how the population actually lives, not just relying on what we were taught in (((public school))). A state is a tool, neither evil nor good. How you prepare and use the state determines its morality.
