Intelligence does not translate to knowledge. I know many people who fall into the genius category and I can assure you they are some of the dumbest, smartest people you will ever meet. Intelligence is not immune to emotion. Intellectuals are simply better at pretending they are immune and therefore rest above. In academic circles they have formalized the abstraction of pretending they are robots up high, led only by empirical facts, and therefore immune to all forms of manipulation, emotional need, and general bullshit which only effects people like "you."
Additionally, socialists and communists have infiltrated academia since the late 1800s in the US. It means those who rise to the top and receive broad attention are statistically more likely to have been crafted in the shop of socialist/communist doctrine. They are inherently biased and their positions are inherently couched as such. Yet they are taught to hide their bias.
The result are pseudo-intellectuals who have themselves been brainwashed into socialism/communism and held high by their other brainwashed peers. Who then go on to publish papers and write books. Who then circle jerk to cite each other. Whereby others hold high by the logical fallacy of plea to authority.
The result is a bunch of idiots lead astray by other idiots who then cite these idiots to reassure themselves that none of them are idiots. Who then use their own bias to tell everyone else who disagrees that those people are idiots. AKA - a cluster fuck of pseudo-intellectualism - which usually leans heavily left.
