I wouldn't call this an assault, but charging a reporter with harassment for asking a public official questions would be a huge threat to our constitution; and especially when the person being questioned was calling for everyone to harass those they disagree with.

I would classify following someone around who has made it clear they don't want to speak with you, stepping in front of them, shoving a microphone into their face, refusing to stop when asked, and repeatedly shouting the same questions at them which they have already declined to answer "harassment." And I say this as someone who thinks Maxine Waters is a demented demagogue who needs to be put into the ground. That being said, maybe reporters should be protected from harassment charges when doing their work, unless they cross the line into physical violence.
