When I bring that up, I'm told that only police confiscated guns during Katrina. (And usually insulted.) This NRA article quotes an article reporting that "Police officers and federal law enforcement agents scoured the city carrying assault rifles seeking residents who have holed up to avoid forcible eviction." It goes on to say Bush signed a law a year later prohibiting federal cooperation with such actions in the future.

So apparently we were thinking of feds and police doing it, paramilitary as they are. Though still in the back of my mind I thought I recalled some minor military participating... Also, since then, I've heard active military members talk about it on radio shows and admit that they would comply with an order to confiscate arms under the assumption it would be lawful if given. Of course only the most naive circular-logic soldiers would be given such tasks, anyway. I don't know what really happened, but there is no guarantee it won't happen.

Well, soldiers...enlisted...take an oath to obey, period. Officers take a different oath, they can exercise judgment.

Soldiers did go around and steal guns....in fact, a unit of the guard refused and got big "pats on the backs" from pro-gunners.

Why the fuck do you currently see solders running around in your community in fatigues? Vs. dress uniforms?

McFly, wake up. When SHTF you best be shooting at all in uniform. They're in uniform for a reason.

No. Soldiers do not take an oath to obey. Go learn something
