massive bonus and pay raise for Congress, hundreds of billions to Israel, Pakistan, South Africa and other enemies, sweeping gun control, significant funding increases for sanctuary cities, stealthily signing FOSTA into law, and not providing funds for the border wall (besides Jordan's).

Dude no. If it wasn't so obvious we wouldn't have to dig so deep to find a reason to support him.

He isn't outsmarting anyone. He is focking the country for more power and there is a feeding frenzy going on. Don't be naive.

And I didn't realize until I checked that it's INTERIM funding. This gives him a strong political position on which to stand. The real traitors are the GOP. In six months a new budget will be up for vote. Trump now has his long term military budget. Which means he's in a strong position six months from now.

This also means that the nation clearly understands that the traitors to the nation are the DNC AND the GOP.

In politics sometimes you surrender things to get the big picture. While I admit I've very concerned he signed this bill, unlike all past presidents in my lifespan, Trump has at least earned some pause for reflection and consideration.

Trust but verify.

He signed the cloud act into law for temporary funding. He violated the 2nd amendment for temporary funding. I trusted, I verified and he fucked us

Why did he have to get everyone’s hopes up that he might not sign it, then turn around and do it anyway without getting anything out of it?

1
-1

[–] VIP740 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

He's playing to the left here. That was him saying he wanted some of the same things as those who were let down by the DNC. Aside from maybe getting some of the voters to cut him just a little bit of slack, it helps undermine support for the DNC.

I'm not quite sure where he's going with this. I don't think he really has a side. I imagine his ultimate goal is to lock the Trump family into a more favorable position (with political influence which can be turned against their competitors, reduce the Trump family's legal restrictions and accountability, and generally to give themselves as many advantages as possible). If he could help stir up discontent amongst Democratic voters the "resistance" would be less trouble for him; and if he could help some new politicians get in to reform the DNC and make some deals with them, I'm sure he wouldn't mind having some future DNC leaders in debt to the Trump family so they can play both sides.

Everything passed without debate. It was a 2000+ page bill that they voted on a few hours after it was printed.

Make no mistake, congress passed this bill without reading a word of it.

A lot of Veterans could be affected by this change. The military discharges a lot of people under the guise of mental issues without proper diagnosing. If that happens to someone they can no longer legally buy a firearm.

It was well known up front that Trump has never been a big Second Amendment defender. This really isn't surprising. Anyone who voted from him and are angry at this simply didn't know or understand for whom they voted.

That doesn't mean I'm happy about it either. In fact, I'm very concerned. But.. as if we had a choice... let's see how this shakes out.

5

[–] Thisismyvoatusername 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

To be fair, I knew. He was just a better choice than Hillary, so I voted for him. Plus I’ll admit I love the schadenfreud of watching liberals who hate him. I personally haven’t liked him since the early 90s, but I can put that aside if he does a good job. I’ve had employees I strongly disliked. I never punished them for that alone, nor did I increase any punishments because of it.

Still one hopes, and my hopes have been dashed yet again. Given the number of election and legislative cycles I’ve been through, I am more laidback about it than I would have been 30 years ago, though. This sucks, but I’ll just take a breath and see what’s next.
