Problem with maintaining those benefits is that they become an easy way to keep regular welfare too. Look at how many are on "disability" now just because everything else ran out and it was easy to get.

The ah 'discipline' of means testing to determine ongoing qualifications has become slack in many jurisdictions, in part because the staff are well aware of the meagerness of current welfare benefits. Enforcement can be considerably strengthened, no doubt.

I am of course not referring to the Wallmart ladies, who will be fine with UBI - but rather people like the quadriplegics - who will require additional care for the duration of their lives.
