You don't know the half of it.
Not only does 50-80% of the Ashkenazim Y Chromosome consist of European DNA... That makes sense if many Jewish women married European men.
But on top of that 80% of Ashkenazi mtDNA, which is passed on only matrilinearly, is also European. Which is a bit awkward, since Jewishness is supposedly passed on matrilinearly. But this means that most of the "Jewish" progenitor mothers were actually European women that converted to Judaism.
See here:

Now also consider that, as they migrated between countries, over the centuries, some of these Jews actually did integrate into the societies they joined. They stopped calling themselves Jews, adopted the religion and traditions of the land, and became simply French, or German, or British, etc. We just don't talk about or see these Jews, because they stopped being Jews.
And so now, we're getting closer to understanding what those that call themselves Jews today really are: A self-selected sub-breed of European. With traces of Middle Eastern admixture. But mostly defined by centuries of selecting for cronyism, cliquism, victim mentality, subversion, and exploitation; and selecting against desires to integrate and become part of the society you live in.
