Why?

Because it's snowing.

I carefully designed the snow animation to only use CSS commands that run on the video card, to avoid taxing the CPU... so the theme would look nice even on potatoes.

Is this causing a problem for you?

We put up this sticky when the Christmas theme was activated, but we haven't received any other complains.

Edit: down-vote not from me.

It's quite nice looking. Too bad the day mode is blinding so I can't see any CSS.

Thanks, but doing fancy stuff using CSS can be a harsh mistress because the same commands are executed on a wide range of different browsers running on all kinds of different hardware.

I hope the OP can get back to me with info about his hardware and browser so I can see if the problem can be fixed.

I tested the hell outta this version of the Christmas theme to make sure it ran easily on EVERYTHING and I couldn't find any issues... even with 50 tabs open on ancient devices.

Merry Christmas!

Its running in the background like a motherfucker. Might be something my end i cant dig out from the looks of things.

MSI laptop gt960m 16gb ram etc always getting rebuilt. Sitting there shitposting and notice fans start going bezerk and ive got gpu spikes with it enabled in the browser and cpu spikes with it off.

Tends to happen most on shitbird sites like fox or huffpo etc so automatic jump to blaming whoevers working on it. Didnt really notice it happening on voat because im too busy flogging it over vr porn.

fans start going bezerk

I'm sincerely interested in fixing this issue or disabling the CSS GPU animation if it can't be fixed, so please understand my questions are innocent and sincere rather than accusatory.

Having the fans running sounds a lot like the CPU is being taxed, which shouldn't relate to the politics Christmas theme because it's designed to only use video card resources.

I'm wondering if Fox or HuffPost (ugh) is taxing the CPU and creating the fan-thrashing-CPU-shit-show, whereas video cards are designed to easily handle modern 3D games without causing CPU bottlenecks or GPU performance problems.

I was expecting a little bit of 2D snow to cause a mild GPU spike, but that's what even the lamest video cards are designed to handle without resulting in user experience problems.

Dreaming of a Florida white Christmas riding to slap city on a razor blade and bottle of bourbon. Bless Baby Jesus. Merry Christmas!
