  1. US intelligence services (FBI, CIA, NSA, etc) should have their charters revoked and redrafted to align with the needs of US citizens as reflected in the US Constitution. Currently they are following their own agenda which tends to support corporate interests and the desires of an elite.
  2. Police are NOT underfunded and overstretched. It only appears so when considering the burdens imposed by "overcriminalization" and the failed "War on Drugs". Police funding & the number of officers needs to be severely slashed and they need to be forced to abandon their roles as "Law Enforcers" and rediscover their mission to "serve and protect" the citizens. They should be relieved of their military hardware and spy equipment. Civil Asset Forfeiture is a crime and should be recognized as such.

^^^ this.

Problem is, once an agency gains the degree of power that the three-letters have, they're not going to give it up willingly, and they can't be made to give it up either, because the NSA has essentially become a malevolent, omniscient demon-god that has all the dirt on everyone, and can leak said dirt anytime anyone threatens its power.

You are exactly right in all of what you have said - (I agree totally) and that is exactly why their willingness is not a matter of consideration. They receive their power from US. One hopes that with an outsider in the Executive office that he would have some measure of latitude that insiders do not possess, both because they have "dirt" on them and their interests align with the "three lettered", but ultimately we have to stop buying into their crap. They need to be rejected by US.
