I just don't want another /r/liberal or whatever disguised as /r/politics...or in this case another /r/politics disguised as /v/politics.

I'm more of a trash an obvious tea party non-contender type of a guy, personally.

Exactly. I saw people on /r/politics the other day complaining about how "conservative" Voat seemed to them. Boo hoo hoo, little Bernie Jr. can't have his liberal echo chamber.

The only thing I've seen so far that's "conservative" about this place is that people seem to be more accepting of other people's view than on that one site, what's it called again...you know.

Breath of fresh air, isn't it? Loving this diversity of opinion.

That's fascinating they'd think its too conservative here. From a political perspective, I don't identify with one party or ideology but I'm certainly aware that I'm about as far to the left in opinions as one can get. How boring it would be to only have discussions with like-minded people. Part of what makes politics interesting is hearing the opposite side.

I can't agree with you more. I love discussing politics, but being fairly conservative found myself constantly insulted for having views differing from those of the /r/politics drones. I think if this "subverse" can be truly political discussion, especially in a fairly civil manner, I will be sold enough to believe that it is likely the rest of voat is less "agree or be trolled" than reddit.

Wonderful point of view. I very much disliked the: "Agree...or else!" Mindset of reddit. I'm glad to see some dissenting and diverse conversation in /v/politics. If, however, it turns into more of the same, I'll try to find a different subverse. Until then...happy browsing!

I'm glad for discussion, but if you want to keep it civil, it would be best to not call people drones, on either side of the isle. Even if it's subtle or unintended that sort of talk from anyone is likely to lead to a little resentment and possible retaliatory comments which most likely wouldn't be in good taste.

:D

Not having a political bias is impossible, but I hope we can get a culture where interesting points are appreciated, even though they differ from the majority. The problem isn't really the bias, but the tendency to downvote everything one disagrees with.

I disagree!

"Interesting" points are already appreciated. It's the bog standard lazy ones that fall on dividing lines. People may not have agreed with it, but the "a llama in every household" guy got plenty of coverage for having an interesting point on the importance of livestock farming to America.
