How do you think I should classify them? It's not too late to add more options.

I'm a geo-libertarian-market-socialist frankenstein monster. So there's no pleasing me. But you need to consider that libertarian and liberal are flipped in non-us countries. I think dumbing your survey down to left leaning or right leaning would probably work best.

Then ask if you prefer centralized federal government or decentralized local government to create laws, regulations or lackthereof. Then under economics ask if you prefer free trade or protectionism. Then ask if you prefer interventionism or isolationism. Then ask Sanders great president or greatest president ever?

This seems like the way to go. I've found it harder and harder to classify myself on a just left right scale.

Add Libertarian, Green Party, Independent, etc to political views. Marriage stance - government shouldn't license marriage as a choice.

Right-wing and conservative aren't the same thing, by the way.

I think "Conservative" and "Progressive" would be reasonable alternatives to the "leanings."
