You're not using a VPN on a public network, that's problem #1 and you should fix that asap

Most people on voat will understand about VPN, and the advice is appreciated.

Keep in mind that the thrust of the post is about something else.

Yea but I like people spying on me it gives me an erection. Is there somewhere I can link so that people always see what I'm doing? I like to stay perma semi at the very least. I know government is watching but I'd like a more active viewership.

Last time I was in the US I could never connect to my VPN using cellular networks (like T-Mobile), and I saw the only time in my life my phone popped up with a message from google saying that someone might be intercepting my data. (I was in Arizona when that happened)

This.

Even with Tor browser, they can track who is using Tor.

The only way to be truly anonymous is to boot from a generic Linux distro CD and access the wifi at Starbucks whilst hiding in the dumpster. Make sure to spoof your mac and watch out for used covfefe grinds.

If you're using a VPN for privacy from the Gov't you're doing it wrong. Gov't agencies can file a warrant with your VPN provider to track what you're doing, and if your VPN keeps logs or is in a 5/9/14 eyes country, you're fucked.

Just wait until our home ISPs are doing this with impunity.

That's when we tell them to collectively fuck off and they go out of business.

How much of a fucking idiot are you? In 99% of the U.S. you have the choice of a) exactly one internet provider, due to local protection of monopolies, or b) 2 internet providers who're pretty much exactly the same, both monopolies protected by the local government. Goddamn, boy, go back to butter-huffing in your mama's fucking basement; you're too ignorant to be on Voat....

They can just legally slow down the content if NN rules are not enforced. Unless Voat, etc. pay a fee for a fastlane.

Use a custom DNS.

I pay for a VPN, but that shouldn't be necessary to have access to the content I want.

Landing page = They break DNS for your first page view.

If you bookmark a HTTPS site, and the site uses certificate pinning (extra security from rogue certificate authorities), then that page will not load properly, and you will not get their landing page as intended. If your web browser does not work after connecting, visit a site without HTTPS on it. Then, you will get their landing page. Click "I agree" or whatever it is, and then the HTTPS site should work.

Good find. This post is underrated. This is a link to the limited Wifi rollout with real info.

It's like high school again. They couldn't block proxies as fast as we found new ones it was great

My private school didn't offer outside internet for this very reason.

My college held out as long as possible before setting up wifi. The year before that my professor would set up wifi routers in the class room & his office and would casually watch the network traffic as people would connect then disconnect.
