I don't find it suspicious because I've known for years that Snopes defended the Democrats and leftists. I haven't used them in at least 2 years. I would never use them for truth checking on anything political. They promote misinformation and fake news as bad as CNN. Fuck Snopes, I hope they go broke and go away!

It's literally a mom-and-pop organization. They've never had the credentials to be fact-checkers in the first place.

Two years seems accurate. It was run by a husband and wife team until their divorce a couple years ago. Apparently after their divorce the wife sold her share of the site to the advertising firm ((proper media)) and Proper Media was already managing a significant amount of the operation of Snopes including all content and advertising accounts prior to acquiring shares in the company.

The DNC has BILLIONS of dollars sitting in PACs alone. This "we're broke please help us" is the same shit Republicans do every year to scare idiots that are living paycheck-to-paycheck to give them money. They're not broke.

Doesn't saying your broke look bad though? As a casual observer if some organization says their broke that smacks of fiscal irresponsibility and mismanagement to me? And runs the risk of the perception of throwing good money after bad at least from a pr perspective.

There was a study done on charitableness and Democrats had more doners sub $100, but Republicans donated more when they did.

I'll have to try and dig that up again. It was interesting.

Now that using CIA funds might actually get em in trouble, they do this fake gofundme thing.

People donating $600, cmon. I think it got a lot of bux too quickly. Ill try to do the math.

$294,355 in 11 hours by 10,340

That is $26,759/h and 940 donations per hour.

That's a lot of money, and too much to be from the average donor. (((Soros)))? Maybe they've been getting condolence money from Shariablue.

I read an article. Whoever wrote it may have been biased but it seems a vendor is holding snopes hostage and cut off their revenue. If true there can't be a way that is legal, but hopefully it kills it before long. I thonk it has to do with the couple who owns the site getting divorced.

Depends on the contract they signed. I think I read the same article you're referring to, and the Snopes people say the contract expired, the company "holding them hostage" say at least part of it still applies. Without seeing the contract there is no way to know for sure, but I doubt a company would do that unless they felt they could back it up legally.

My guess would be Snopes isn't being fully truthful about the details of their contract and why another company would hold their website "hostage".

Like they hold your car hostage when you don't make the payment. Repo hostages are tragic.

It's not about a vendor, that was a lie by half of snopes. What's going on is a dispute between two owners of snopes, both of whom own 50% of snopes parent company. One of those companies, proper media, is the so called "vendor" in the story.

nail on the head. How can they be a fact checking org when they do no actual fact checking themselves and just report on what other websites have said? I don't think they even send people out for personal interviews and gather witness/character statements, they just search for shit on google
