of course death panels are real, anywhere you've got someone being treated for a potentially fatal condition you've got a death panel, the attempt to present them as only a result of socialised medical care is really just a lie. What Palin missed out on was pointing out that your current death panels are run by insurance companies, who have a serious conflict of interests between their responsibility to make profit for their shareholders and keeping you alive. Socialised death panels are free of that particular conflict of interests.
The only way you can not have death panels is to not have medicine at all, or to turn them into slavery panels by compelling medical staff to work unpaid.
edit: forgot to add There are already another type of death panel in operation all the way across the USA and have been since long before Palin coined the phrase, they are called "triage nurse".
