Labeling a gang as a terrorist group is a dangerous step, we have seen that little by little the term is losing its meaning and it's getting politicized to fit whatever narrative the governments and media want to promote.

With that said, please, do not under any circumstance think that I'm defending these shit-stains of humanity. Deal with them with whatever strength is necessary. But please, don't label them as terrorists; the fear against that threat is something governments use to increase their power.

They do not use violence for political purposes. You should not throw around the terrorist label just because it can work in your favor.

On December 23, 2004, the Friday before Christmas, one of the most widely publicized MS-13 crimes in Central America occurred in Chamelecón, Honduras when an intercity bus was intercepted and sprayed with automatic gunfire from assault rifles, killing 28 and wounding 14 civilian passengers, most of whom were women and children. MS-13 organized the massacre as a protest against the Honduran government for proposing a restoration of the death penalty in Honduras.

Good point, but I think it's more complex than that. The reason for their existence is not making a political "statement", at the end of the day these are criminal organizations with 2 paramount principles: survive and profit. Naturally, they develop an internal identity/culture but that's no different than any other long existing organization.

To get to the point: it's for the best to not label more groups as terrorists, since that has been used by governments to expand their powers. Deal with them using all the strength and powers available, but no more.

If a city freed a terrorist we would all go berserk, but is someone pledges themselves to mS-13 what is the difference? In fact if New York lets one go instead of turning them over as asked and they go to New Jersey and kill someone can't that town sue New York for negligence?

Gangs are NOT terrorist organizations. MS-13 is an apolitical criminal organization, not a terrorist group. Whats next are everyday murderers going be declared terrorists in order to justify extra power for law enforcement

Do you have some actual fact pattern in mind?

I can't really think of mayors letting people go like that. Cities usually operate along different organizational lines than states or the federal government. So mayors aren't usually dictating things like that. But if they are in a position to do so, I am struggling to think of what crime they would be guilty of.

If they have the right to let people go, then they have that right. You cannot prosecute them for exercising a right they had whether you agree with how they exercised it or not.

This seems like the situation where the Travis County DA tried to prosecute then Gov. Perry for exercising the powers of his office.

How about Bridgegate then? Municipal officials certainly have the power to regulate traffic...

I don't know enough about that. I rather had the sense they were exceeding their legal authority, though.

I heard this is also ShareBlue.com's motto.

To defeat gangs all you have to do is legalize drugs. They really don't have anything after that except sex slavery and human trafficking which is much harder to do.

The Obama admin settled countless unaccompanied hispanic minors in our county. Sheriff's office said 85% of them have MS13 ties.

The source for my county sheriff's office? I doan thing so.

Edit: to clarify, the SO had a regular community meeting, which my wife attended. He talked about the unaccompanied minors who'd been settled in the county, and said 85% had known MS13 affiliation.

MS13 has a motto "kill rape and control"

This is a large part of what is wrong with the west. Not the fact that they "kill rape and control" ... the fact the worst that is going to happen to the "people" is that they will go to jail!

"kill rape and control" THAT should be our response! No middle ground! If they want "kill rape and control" Lets take the gloves off and give it to them!
