But selling the Saudis weapons is awesome for many reasons:
Firstly... and let's be painfully honest: we've been destabilizing the Muslim middle east by supplying the different warring Islamic sects and tribes with weapons to enabled them to slaughter each other for decades... and it's worked beautifully! It's the oldest trick in the book - sick your enemies against each other... and we've been poking that cage full of rabid dogs for over 60 years and standing back while they eat each other.
Can you imagine what today's political landscape would be like if we hadn't waged a 60 year Muslim middle eastern destabilization campaign... while pretending we just had a 60 year long string of foreign policy "oopsies"? The Muslims would have consolidated their vast oil wealth and human resources into the greatest superpower on Earth: a United Terrorist States of Arabia, ruled globally by a single caliphate and armed with nukes. We've know that war between Islam and civilization was inevitable and what we did was turn the Muslim middle east into an immiserated clutch of dirt-farming jihadists rather than the greatest superpower in history.
As the Muslim middle east's economy continues to circle the drain, the various Islamic countries and sects will invade each other for gibs and because their fucked-up Islamic law demands that they kill each other for the sharia crimes of blasphemy and apostasy. Saudi Arabia will be one of the key battlefields as terrorist attempt to plunder what remains of their riches. This is why they are building massive Trump-style border walls... and this is why selling them weapons is hilarious: because it's gonna be one hell of a shit show.
Secondly, we know that Saudi Arabia have at least three nukes... so we want them to be able to defend themselves against invasion from all of the different Muslim terrorist groups... so we have some warning before those nukes get stolen and we can no longer trace track 'em.
Thirdly, if we don't sell them weapons then they will simply purchase them from France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey or possibly China... so we may as well get their cash.
Finally, it's in our best interest to pretend to be friends with Saudi Arabia because President Trump plans to use them as the agents of change for setting up and helping fund safe zones in Syria... and once that is done, Europe and the entire civilized world can start removing their Muslim refugee human garbage and throwing it back on the shaira shit holes from where it crawled.
