Simple, easy rule to live by. And not following it will fuck things up between people.

The phrase about not talking religion or politics is a gross cop-out designed to maintain the status quo, keeping people from thinking critically about issues that actually matter in society, and branding it impolite when someone is outspoken. Fuck polite society; we cannot afford that luxury anymore.

What is aggressive? If I am enjoying a robust political conversation, and the bartender decides politics is off the list discussions, I would leave.

Imagine if a bartender tried this in Philadelphia, where political discussion was key to our independence.
