they absolutely have. I am hispanic, voted democrat when I was younger (in my mid 30's now), and they have completely alienated me. There was a time when I was naive and thought they really wanted to help. When I lived in Puerto Rico they'd come every 4 years to appeal to the hispanic vote it was all about optics. Did they ever do anything to seriously help straighten out the corruption and waste of the failed socialists policies on the island? Not once.
We had a referendum a few years ago in Puerto Rico and the majority was pro statehood.. Obama was in office and the democrats controlled the majority of government. They could have made the move, instead they just decided they would say fuck it... Now without the feds coming in to help stop the rampant corruption Puerto Rico is descending further into poverty.
I am not here to make excuses for whats gone on down there, believe me I am well aware that people kept voting partisan assclowns that only cared about filling their pockets and helping out buddies.. But some federal intervention could have gone a long way.. and the democrats did nothing.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... I hope and pray that President Trump will do something, even if it means coming in federalizing and cleaning house. If Puerto Rico became a state tomorrow it would be the poorest, and most violent. We got our own "bad hombres" and the police are grossly understaffed and not ready to deal with the cartels on the island. Wouldn't mind seeing FBI, ATF, DEA down there doing raids every few hours.

Elect your own Duerte.
He is crazy but his policies are working. Sometimes you need a crazy mother fucking to take back control. Hence why the middle east needs dictators.
