Yes, Australia did handle the 2007-2008 financial crisis extremely well.
That said, it seems clear to me that President Trump is an anti-globalist who embraces nationalism... which means, unlike the RINOs or the Democrat terrorists, he will see the financial collapse as a problem that needs to be managed rather than another blow to the civilized world for the globalists to lick their lips over.

This is where leftists seem to have Autistic screeching fits, because they fail to understand that President Trump will say anything if it's in the best interest of America and he's change his mind the moment he gets everything that he wants from a negotiation.
One of his First 100 Day pledges was to label China a currency manipulator... and Jesus that hate people drawing attention to that... and after he met with the Chinese President and won with beef and coal trade and gained their agreement on helping us deal with NK, he then said "Nah, the Chinese are OK". I'm glad he did that because I suspect he did negotiate an informal agreement with the Chinese but more importantly, he put the US ahead of meeting 100% of his First 100 Day plan.
Leftists will scream and cry that President Trump only achieved 80% or 90% of his First 100 Day plan, however he sincerely seems less interested in ego and more concerned with helping the American people.
Similarly, it made me laugh when President Trump claimed that NATO was obsolete... and then all the members rushed to pay their bills... and now that President Trump got everything he wanted... he's now happy with NATO: it's not obsolete anymore... for now! :-)
