I think it's risky to do this before a election, i'm sure that Germany has some kind of influence in France politically not to mention that merkel can just say eh well fuck it time to start funding her opposition.

I exhibit you Donald J. Trump, or as we refer to him now, Mr. President. Every group that had influence spent everything they had to stop him and it didn't work. They tried to rig the election and still failed. If France truly is behind her and wants the horrors Merkel has visited on Europe to end then there is nothing that can be done to stop Le Pen. Looking at the enthusiasm gap we are probably going to see her win.
