this seems to be the statement that is used to make this claim.

Note that Comey is saying that russians did not directly give emails to wikileaks, but they still believed the russians did so while acting through an intermediary.

Precisely, and now we have another post on v/politics and v/all voted up just because Voaters want to believe it without even following the link. Boo.

Bad Voat, bad!

Bad @dietcokehead1, bad!

And remember, this is the shit that they claim makes reddit the worst... ANd here they are doing it themselves. But because Voaters agree with it, its fine, and if I were to point this out in a post of my own, the response would be, if I had to guess, a flurry of downvoats, and a comment from Rummel reading "Yes he did. Can't you read. You are fake news."

Comey is very careful with his words. He says more than "believe". Using words like "believe" create ambiguity. His words are, "we assess", which indicates the evidence they have leads them to that conclusion on a rational basis. How all of this pans out remains to be seen. Perhaps their assessment is wrong. This is a lot better than the hacking reports which culminated into, "well it looks like Russians because those fingerprints were left behind, but we're not sure why they'd be so damn sloppy about it. So Russia, yeah?"

Oh, I absolutely believe that it wasn't the Russians. I just think that the people who believe that shouldn't be so damn deceptive when presenting talking points to dispute it. It doesn't lend us any credibility,
