Same here, only been here a week or so too. So your impression is that Voat is more conservative than Reddit? That's not good news for me, One of the big changes on Reddit that drove me away was how mainstream and less progressive it was seeming to become.

There just seems so much about Sanders that I would have thought was grist for the mill for a forum like this. He looks like the political embodiment of the 1% movement. Corporate interests in US politics seems like a huge issue, he's alone in voicing objection to that. He's Jewish, is that an issue, I have no idea? Have you ever had a Jewish president? He's really old and non-typical looking for a presidential candidate. Is he too old? Maybe I'm getting carried away with his chances, but studying the Google Trends, he went past Hillary recently which I thought was interesting.

My impression of Voat is completely anecdotal and probably not the most informed, I unsubscribed from r/politics a long time ago because it seemed as though any opinion or idea expressed that was not liberal or progressive would be downvoted and ignored. I might very well be completely wrong about it.

I don't think being Jewish would be an issue for him. If it was a Republican Jew you might have some leftwing pundits talking about blind support for Israel but I don't think it would really matter much. As for the (I'm assuming you meant google) trends, keep in mind name recognition. Hillary has been a public figure since the early 90's, longer than people who will be able to vote for her have been alive, no one needs to google and find out who she is. Bernie Sanders is a name I don't think would be widely recognized outside of Vermont or people who follow politics very closely.

Yes, you're right. I hadn't heard of him a month ago and googled the shit out of him for a while. Hillary, I've probably never googled her name. I'm excited about this guy though, even though it doesn't affect me directly. I'd like to see some impressions from people closer to the action on here. I'm listening to him talking on TV in 1981 right now and what he's saying is absolutely the same issues in 2015.

Canadian here and i'd agree with most of this, most people don't know who the hell he even is unless they follow world politics closely. also it is still incredibly early part of me would be interested in Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders on an independent ticket, the two share some views and imho would be a great team that could work together while tempering each others positions on things they disagree on, but the chances of us getting a rational team up like that are pretty damn slim
