I have only been on Voat a few days, but my impression seems to be that it is less liberal than Reddit. Sanders is a self described socialist. He's farther to the left than any other politician I can think of, as far as I know. Honestly, I haven't researched him much because from the little I have heard from him I know I won't support him. They probably just aren't as many people that are interested in him here.

Same here, only been here a week or so too. So your impression is that Voat is more conservative than Reddit? That's not good news for me, One of the big changes on Reddit that drove me away was how mainstream and less progressive it was seeming to become.
There just seems so much about Sanders that I would have thought was grist for the mill for a forum like this. He looks like the political embodiment of the 1% movement. Corporate interests in US politics seems like a huge issue, he's alone in voicing objection to that. He's Jewish, is that an issue, I have no idea? Have you ever had a Jewish president? He's really old and non-typical looking for a presidential candidate. Is he too old? Maybe I'm getting carried away with his chances, but studying the Google Trends, he went past Hillary recently which I thought was interesting.

My impression of Voat is completely anecdotal and probably not the most informed, I unsubscribed from r/politics a long time ago because it seemed as though any opinion or idea expressed that was not liberal or progressive would be downvoted and ignored. I might very well be completely wrong about it.
I don't think being Jewish would be an issue for him. If it was a Republican Jew you might have some leftwing pundits talking about blind support for Israel but I don't think it would really matter much. As for the (I'm assuming you meant google) trends, keep in mind name recognition. Hillary has been a public figure since the early 90's, longer than people who will be able to vote for her have been alive, no one needs to google and find out who she is. Bernie Sanders is a name I don't think would be widely recognized outside of Vermont or people who follow politics very closely.

Because we are a smaller community and the hive mind of silly jokes and mass appeal doesn't apply here.

I have been here just about every day since before the FPH revolt. There has been quite a bit about Bernie Sanders, and much favorable. My impression is that Voat leans pretty far toward libertarianism, and even from that viewpoint, Bernie has received some positive comments as relatively honest or outside establishment.

Yep, your search on Bing is giving plenty of results with lots of discussion. I wonder why the Voat search ranks discussions with 1 or 0 upvotes as the top results? Need to work on the algo I think.

VOAT is relatively new. Many of us discovered it only recently.
It is lack some of the depth and breadth of content that REDDIT had. I challenge you to add to it when you feel things are missing. Not enough Bernie news and discussion then add some. Find something that tweaks your curiosity, post it.

I totally support Sanders but I'm a little fatigued from discussion about him on reddit. Holy crap can they go overboard. I like the occasional thread discussing his stance on a certain issue, if he's ahead in the polls. But every time the man says two words it winds up on the front page of reddit. This place, while a little more conservative than I like, is more rational.

The Sanders campaign is hardly a "smoldering flame" outside of Reddit. Most people realize he has no chance (and thank goodness for that).

Probably because being a smaller community most discussion has been superseded by more urgent and arguably important (at the moment) topic of the TPP. Also, as someone else mentioned voat appears to lean more towards libertarianism. Or maybe we're all cynics that know he has no chance anyway, so why bother. The best I'm hoping realistically is that him vocalizing certain topics will force debate on some things that might otherwise get ignored by the MSM and the Hillary.

He is a socialdemocrat trying to run for a christiandemocrat party in a country with a very narrow political perspective.
