Buy a gun and carry it.

Came here to say this. As a American you have the right to defend yourself and family , it amazes me how many do not take advantage of this right.

The cost of having the kids watch me shoot a person is an incredibly high price to pay for this, and one they have not, nor could they have, the presence of mind to understand the consequences of. Me alone is one thing, and I totally agree with you in that situation, but together I am not so sure.

I am a Trump supporter and am a good shot. I carry at all times and am willing to use my weapon if my life is threatened but hope to god I never have to use it. If I shot an attacker, every single bullet has to be accounted for. Problem is, many people don't even realize they unloaded their magazine into someone. If you are found not guilty in a criminal trial, there's still time for the family to sue you in civil court. Shooting someone is expensive af. What I do is keep a 'get me out of jail' attorney's card in my purse and glove compartment.

If I'm ever in the situation of shooting someone, I have to call him ASAP and was advised not to talk to the police. Instead, ask the police to get me to the hospital to make sure I'm okay after the shock....and that police interviews can happen later with my attorney present.

Gotta protect yourself in more way than one. That's some good advice.

I know things are different in the US but where I live (Switzerland) the best course of action is the complete opposite. If you shot someone the best thing to do (in almost all cases besides shooting too) is to cooperate with the police. The police report is what the state attorney will look at after all and an open and honest person that seems to not be hiding anything will have far more leeway than someone that refuses to talk without an attorney.

That's dealing with the police. For civil lawsuits you better lawyer up. Just something to keep in mind. You don't want to be looking guilty and suspicious after shooting someone. Especially if it's not a clear case of self defense on your property...

So, my general thoughts on this is that while I can carry when I am around them (and I do), say, if I put a trump bumper sticker on my car, but I am not around that particular gun isn't going to help, and while I have talked to the wife about getting her a small gun to carry for her protection, if she had to use it for my expression of my beliefs, I would be forcing her into a situation that, even if she ended up physically unharmed, could leave a lasting impact on her and the kids (if they were there at the time). That is a huge price to pay for my opinion.

While carrying is a good idea that wouldn't help teachers giving his kids a hard time, other kids being bullies ect.

This is also an excellent point. I make my opinion known in the voting booth for now.

I'm in the same boat but I think you answered yourself "I feel like I don't have the right to put them in harms way to support my political opinions"

One day you will regret this time and you will say "i feel like i put them in harms way by not vocally supporting my political opinions"

Also true but everyone needs to judge the their own situation. If the shit hits the fan and Trump faces a coup then that will be a point of necessary bold action.

But right now, the Leftists and Press are shredding their credibility with the American people. Just let them continue to overplay their hand.

“Never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

Learn to defend yourself. This stuff will only get worse.

Leftists are advocating violence against Trump supporters by labeling all Trump supporters as Nazis.

You'll see it more and more, leftists think they are fighting a moral war against tyranny and fascism. They justify the violence and even advocate attacking those who are against the violence.

Obtain a CCW permit and get ready. Shit is going to hit the fan.

I hate to say it, but I agree.

I lost most of my friends on Facebook because I am a "Nazi". Routinely these morons make posts like "time to punch some Nazis in the face hur dur"

I can see it coming to a head, luckily for us our side owns guns and knows how to use them, also many states have stand your ground, castle doctrine laws on the books.

You should also go a with a crowd like this... https://mynrainsurance.com/insurance-products/self-defense

Legal defense insurance is a must

Thoughts...

"debating" politics is like beating your head against a wall. It's painful and nothing positive comes of it.

But, if you must, then separate out the people with whom you must do it with. Those who can do it rationally, without devolving into angry monkeys, are worth associating with. Those who devolve into angry monkeys, those people are with whom you should cut all ties and never speak with again (probably should never have started, but some people hide their insanity well).

What makes you think that your political opinions are worth broadcasting? Why can't you simply share those opinions with your elected officials, and through election channels?

You make a good point, and it is something that influences my choices to a great degree. I just don't want to have my kids grow up and think that it is okay for the loud minority to suppress you opinion/intimidate you. It may not be important at the age they are now, but as they grow up it will become crucial.

Well how were you brought up? Were you brought up to be afraid of voicing your opinion ? Or do someone show you that you have a right to your opinion and you have a right to voice it?

Then teach them just that.

Trust me, I feel you. I have some shitty renters next door, they have now shot my property at Least 3 times with BB guns (3 broken windows, one was a $400 replacement on a vehicle). They were caught, went through the court system and kicked back onto the street... They can get away with anything but if I were to do ANYTHING, I'd suffer even more. How does one deal with that situation? I'm opting to simply stick to my guns (figuratively and literally).

Teach your kids right and wrong. Teach them that debate is productive, being aggressive is anti-productive. Take care of it in the home, let them know that it's the stronger person who doesn't get sucked into the chaos. That's assuming this country survives long enough... I'm nos so sure that a major civil issue doesn't occur soon, right on down to martial law (and I'm not sure it would be an accident either, feels a bit too organized to me... but everyone has their own conspiracy theory).

Stay quiet.

I loathe Trump, but the melt down on the the left is ridiculous.

Trump's election was turn of the tide. People are getting tired of a lot of stuff. The public mood could change very quickly.

Well, right now, I am practically the same as a political dissident living in the USSR in the 60s.

Except I live in the USA.

The outcomes for me and my family if I share my political opinions publicly will be about the same as in the USSR.

In fact, throughout MOST of history, there will be people who have to hide their political opinions. It's just how society functions.

You have been taught that's not the case, but that's mostly because that was a strategy to normalize communism and racial egalitarianism (basically the same thing) in the US. Now that this has been accomplished, free speech is no longer needed as a strategy by subversive elements, so it will be eliminated.

Just like they eliminated it in Canada and the UK after the left won.

Define "right." When your family is at risk prudential reasoning trumps ideological hobby horses. You take care of you and yours first and deal with the world second.

[–] Jixijenga 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

Depends on what you call "right." Is it right to willfully endanger your children because you can't keep your fucking mouth shut? I'd call that shitty parenting. Is it right that you have to even make that decision? No, that's awful, but that's the world we live in.

Not working as well as you think. The old ones are pretty good shots, but they can't carry most places until they are 21. So if they are on campus, they are fucked, even if the state forces that campus to allow carry.

Truth is, the only way to be safe is physical removal of leftists. You have to destroy them so you can live in peace.

A bitter pill to swallow.
