I was talking about the protestant split, not the split between the Vatican and the Orthodoxy.
Islam is a faith of hatred and bigotry, just like Liberalism. I'd argue that anything that tells a person they're better or worse, more likely to succeed or less, needs to be ended, and the best way to end Islam is to simply isolate it. Lock the people of the Middle East in, and see what happens. Either they all die, or they emerge civilized, having purged radicals. More likely than not, they'll decimate eachother and all starve to death, and that's their problem, not ours.

Neither my husband or I have ever heard of Protestant revolts being related to Crusades or Islam.

The point I'm making is that Protestantism brought better ideas to Christianity, and a similar approach is worth a shot on Islam. Of course, once it probably doesn't work, we should isolate the Middle East and let them slug it out. full travel ban on the region, no planes in or out, and no acceptance of refugees in the western world. Coupled with the destabilization of the likes of Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, we'll see Islam destroy itself with no boots of ours on the ground. Shit, we wouldn't even need drone strikes.
The first half about Protestantism is a devil's advocate argument, but I really mean the second part. We don't need their oil and they have nothing else to trade, so fuck the Middle East, let them sort themselves out or perish in the process.
