I felt the same way about Wreck It Ralph. I loved the concept of the movie but her voice and knowing who she is, just ruined it for me.

Is anyone going to get in trouble for inciting riots, etc in the USA? Seems like we had a bunch of people get visits from the Secret Service, FBI or even punishments for things posted on FB during the Obama era, but now it's all fair game. Anyone else think the scene has changed?

A dumbass stripper in Kentucky tweets that she hopes "someone" would assassinate Trump : Visit from secret service, loses both her day job and her stripping gig.

A wealthy, well connected singer with millions of fans worldwide says that she would like to "bomb the White House", knowing full well that there's a real possibility one of her fans may be crazy enough to try to please her by attacking Trump (just ask Jodie Foster about that), and the secret service says it's "investigating" . I have seen nothing dated more recently on the Madonna incident than 01/23.

A dumbass stripper in the middle of nowhere expresses a wish "someone" would do something : Secret Service springs into action! Interviews her, no doubt at their intimidating, threatening best.

Wealthy singer with the ability to act on her threat and scores of fans willing to please her says SHE would PERSONALLY like to do something : And days ago, the Secret Service was "investigating", crickets since then.

It's almost like there's a MEGA double standard....

i agree, the stripper shouldn't have been messed with. free speech is the most important right protected by the constitution.

That's the point I was trying to make. Thankyou for putting it so eloquently. You're a true patriot.

It's because she's one of "God's Chosen Master Race". She could gas a daycare with sarin and people would just be like "Oh you silly Jewess, you're so funny!"

Strictly speaking she was not calling for a coup. She was saying she believes the military will stage a coup, and stated what she believed would happen when they do.

This may seem trivial but it's free speech we're talking about. The laws that do anything to restrict it must themselves be as narrow and restricted as possible.

i knew anyone who offered a differing view on this day would get their ass reamed, and i sortof agree w/ danny duchamp (also known as rmuttly), what she clearly calls for is resistance. which we all know is futile but is not against the law. at least not yet.....

[–] LoveIsStill [S] 3 points 0 points (+3|-3) ago

So, you're saying all the lawlessness we are seeing in Berkeley and elsewhere should be allowed to continue indefinitely?

[–] LoveIsStill [S] 4 points 1 points (+5|-4) ago

I firmly disagree. She is clearly in contravention of the code. You are simply an apologist.

What's more, people could start to be seriously hurt at one of these lawless demonstrations like UC Berkeley if Trump does not start to enforce such code.

The violent protests like the one at UC Berkeley should of course be quelled. Using police force if necessary.

However speech on twitter is not the place to enact that force.

So I assume you can prove that you were bawling your eyes out when Joe Walsh was saying the same thing, right?

Oh but if someone were to just so happen to point a gun at a certain individual and pull the trigger then all of our problems would go away. But no, I'm not asking for someone to SHOOT that person. No, I'm just saying, y'know, if it DID happen I would be quite happy. /s

If you were to say that, you'd have mens rea. You would be somewhat confident that your speaking would result in someone's death, and you therefore speak.

Sarah Silverman does not have a belief that her words will actually result in any coup. Certainly not a reasonable one in any case.

[–] LoveIsStill [S] 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago  (edited ago)

If one is to say one "believes the military will stage a coup" one must use the most dispassionate speech possible. One's terms must remain impartial.

The phrases "fascists get overthrown" and "mad king and his handlers go bye bye" make it, obviously, not simply a statement of belief but also of desire.

[–] Obviousbond 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

i see no mention of a coup, just "resistance" (again, futile but not illegal).

when one engages in constitutionally protected hyperbole one can include any fucking terms one chooses.........

perhaps one would prefer the military to resist in legal and moral fashion, like voting or voter registration or perhaps, constitutionally protected hyperbole!!! (or perhaps grandiloquent verbosity, as in your case, m'lord.)

Hollywood is fucking shit, and this is coming from an apolitical viewpoint. Who wants to pay money to see your stupid ass CGI rehashes of old movies? On top of that, you can't help but spout constant political shit in my face.

Bitch, I pay you to dance like a monkey on a stage to entertain me. I didn't pay to attend a PoliSci class for babbies.
