VMWare Workstation helped change my life (weird as that sounds) and I was devastated when I heard that their dedicated team got outsourced. Happy to hear though that they've already fallen WAY behind on planned updates/fixes and new features are basically non-existent. We need to make these failure stories known.

CORP-speak 'word of the day':

COMPETITIVENESS << finding people you can pay much less for the same job Americans do better

I think that's also their term for productivity and 'increased profits'.

But you can't hold their nature against them for it's just cancer being cancer totally not the droids you're looking for.

This is like a dream come true for me. This was why I voted for Trump. Hillary wanted to bring in even more of these H1B shitheads, and drive down wages in my field even further. They were even talking about replacing my actual job with an immigrant. Hahaha, fuck that.

God bless you, President Trump. God bless America.

Unless he does away with them outright, and anything even remotely resembling them, then he's just a cocksucker going for easy points.

He might discuss fines for companies like Microsoft who've probably been at the forefront of driving for and benefiting from that very bullshit as well. Maybe prison sentences.. why not?

Fines are dumb. Just prevent the actual infraction.

I scoff a little whenever I see the so-often repeated lie of "can't find local talent".

It's a lie that's been told so many goddamn times that people almost believe it. You can turn up thousands of articles on the "skills gap" if you search for it. That's what you get when so many companies engage in dishonest hiring practices for the sake of getting H1B candidates.

Multiple studies over the last two decades have all confirmed there has never been a talent shortage for most of the tech industry. Only a shortage of people willing to work for less than fair market wages.

All h1bs need to be ejected. They are almost all here illegally, per the terms required for an h1b hire.

"can't find local talent".

I love this shit. Companies that have had people spread all over the country since they don't really have to be in the same room suddenly decide everyone has to live in Peoria. No assistance to move there and the timeframe is just a few weeks. So they let those people go and replace them with H1B1 or just offshore it all. I am going back to get a degree in IT Management since long term that is all they are going to need onshore, an American face and voice to talk to customers and ship the work offshore.

H1-B is also bad for the other countries. US is braindraining the world with H1-B... is it a national defense strategy? It provides a glut of smart cheap labor for US tech industry to innovate with (while taking them from their home country's pool.)

Anything even remotely resembling that shit needs doing away with and the largest/longest running benefactors/drivers and facilitators of it should all publicly hang for treason.

I suspect that Trump will preserve them and the program itself in some fashion. Because he strikes me as just another tool.

Yeah, if he gets assassinated then democracy is exposed as a grand ruse, and they'll never be able to sell the authenticity of another election ever again.

This one I am very much looking forward to. Now we'll all see the reasons those high tech companies are fighting Trump so badly.

Yeah you will, on the phone. This does nothing to stop them from outsourcing call centers to india. What this does is stop them from bringing Indians here to work for shit wages and driving down wages for tech people.

This doesn't but the coming import tariff could. It is a service that is originating outside of the US and is being imported into the US via phone/network.
