Speaking only to your first point:

There are three genders.

In Russian, they are: ΟΗ, ΟΗΑ, and ΟΗΟ.

In English, they are: HE, SHE, and IT.

I.E.: Masculine, Feminine, and Neuter.

This used to be common knowledge, before the Gender Wars.

Interestingly, pairs used to have their own gender (i.e. "Duo"), but it died out before Classical Greek. So "salt and pepper", "man and wife", "table and chair", etc., would have constituted a fourth gender in archaic times.
