I wonder how much of this could have been calculated with the establishment. There was a pretty big push during the election to talk about pushing back against Russia anyway. Maybe the plan was to have a Clinton administration provoke Russia into open warfare. It does seem like the populace is tiring on the War on Terror, and now they are just looking for their next war?

You would think that that they could muster up enough sense to not go to war with the one country that has more and better nukes than we do....

I don't know if they have more and better nukes than we do, but they certainly aren't the Afghans. I think what this shows is that we've officially moved to a state of Total War. The US economy and the people who truly hold the power can't afford (both in terms of political capital and monetary streams) to have the US stop it's expansion toward empire.
