Hello all,
I am writing this to be informative, not to sway you, but to at least make you aware of the candidate you are voting for. I was a bystander during this election cycle until a call I had with my mom. We talked about college, my grades, how I’m doing, what’s new and, of course, politics came up. Once my mom heard that I was supporting Donald Trump I was immediately cut off. My mom expressed her disdain of Donald Trump and his treatment of women, and after she had cooled off she told me “I can’t hear your reasons for voting Trump because, honestly, he makes me sick”. I understand this feeling, I get it when I imagine Hillary in office but I am not afraid of discussing the reasoning or politics of it. I write this now because even though my mom can’t stand to hear my reasoning maybe she can read it and make up her mind after getting both sides. If this reaches you I want you to know I heard your side, I’d like it if you could hear mine.
I can’t say Donald is the most inspiring presidential candidate and he certainly isn’t the president every American dreams of, but he is the most important one during this campaign season. This election has been plagued with some of the worse election etiquette I’ve ever seen, and I hope for my future and ours, that it won’t always be such a shit show, that only proves to the American people that neither candidate is fit for Presidency.
Donald Trump has some serious faults, no one who has looked at him closely(or even through a pair of binoculars backwards) can deny that, but try doing the same to Hillary and you will be deflected. There have been incredibly damning pieces of information coming from Wikileaks(1), the FBI(wasn’t included because FBI.vault.gov was down at the time), and Project(2) Veritas(3). I haven’t read through all the emails that have caught my interest but the theme behind them is clear, “Hillary can’t be trusted.” Her associates from the Democratic National Committee have been caught in a whirlwind of fraud and legal trouble regarding biased polling and accepting money from foreign donors. Associates and friends of hers have been caught on tape admitting to voter fraud and “using mentally ill people” at campaigns. Voter fraud is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with, but they go on to admit to inciting the violence at Trump rallies, pushing his agenda towards one of bullying and intimidation. Trump does have a history of insulting people, and even races, but he has never used tactics that put another person’s life in danger which when it comes down to it “sticks and stones break my bones but words will never hurt me”. Trump may be president in which case he will have to step up his game in accepting the diversity that makes America great, but Hillary will be a president that tears America apart.
As I have been watching Wikileaks being torn down by the media they incriminate, in the new documents released in the latest “Podesta Dump”(4), I was wondering what other time has Wikileaks faced monumental backlash, not only from the government, but from large media sources as well. Wikileaks has a history of being involved in shady politics because it uses shady means to get their information but that information has never been false so far. The same media that is bashing Wikileaks for being on Russia’s side was referencing their documents and admiring the fortitude of Wikileaks to stand up to corrupt regimes around the world. John Podesta has not denied the authenticity of the emails(5) either and blaming the Russians for interference on Trumps behalf is too hypocritical. All the while Hillary has been caught with donations from so many foreign donors(6) during her time as Secretary of State(7) and on the campaign trail(8). It seems both nominees are getting help from groups that shouldn’t be involved in this fight yet neither are denying the assistance. The only thing that is scarier to me than a President owing favors to another country because of what was done during the campaign is that President being in control of the main sources of media. This is effectively eviscerating the First amendment(9). It is clear why the news sources like MSNBC, ABC, CBS, the New York Times, Politico and CNN(among many others)(10) have been so lacking in their duty to inform the public. The Podesta Emails show that Hillary Clintons staffers met with the heads of many news sources days before the official announcement (11) for candidacy. Being friendly with the press is a smart move for a politician but wining and dining them the night before you plan to become President is going to give them some sort of bias(even if unintended). Emails have proven Hillary’s “interviews” to be scripted beforehand(12), which creates a disingenuous candidate at best, and at worst a state propaganda machine operating as if it is without bias.
With facts showing that Hillary has worked with media in an almost state-controlled environment, the picture clearly shows Hillary is already working towards the removal of the freedom of press from the 1st amendment. I’m not willing to let any of the freedoms I was born with, and promised at birth, be taken away. Damn the “you can’t be entitled” bullshit, we are entitled to freedom of the press as well as the other guarantees of the Constitution and no one who works against those principles is going to work for America.
Yours Truly,
Your Son
P.S. For others reading this I just want you to know a little more about why I am voting Trump.
I was brought up responsibly. My parents weren’t overbearing but I knew what my limits were and what would happen if I crossed them. I was brought up with a sense of accountability. That same type of accountability should be in all of us because society asks that we be accountable for our actions. How can we vote in a President that has avoided accountability for so many scandals, ranging from ignoring Americans in distress(13) to robbing the White House(14). I want to be able to know that the person who is guiding America will be held accountable by the people and the government(15). Comey even states that his recommendation regarding Hillary not being prosecuted would not be the same for someone else in a similar circumstance. I want to be able to hold the President responsible for what he does and Trump, a man who clearly isn’t popular with everyone, would be under constant pressure to focus on what is good for everyone. As President, he can be held accountable because even as I support him I know that if he does not deliver on his plan to fix our government(16). I see Hillary’s plan for America as fake(17) and her campaign is financed by those who would benefit her being in office. I don’t want a fake President and she clearly has shown herself to only have one real motivator. It’s not people, not power, not a sense of duty for her country or a belief that she needs help our enemies to help our country, it is money. Looking at the Clinton Foundations list of donors and her relationship with them and their country of origin as Secretary of State shows a level of corruption that is sickening.
