You're missing my point. He wasn't actually alive then, so how does he in fact know how great it was? Bc it says so in a history book?

I think he's talking about governmental policies. Are you saying that the policies didn't exist? Do you trust that any history did in fact happen then?

Oh they existed, but what I'm saying is, the quality of life that came from those govt policies. How can you know it was great if you didn't live through said policies? I'm talking for the Avg person.
Keep in mind the life expectancy was 58 yrs old for men back then. Polio, TB, Smallpox and syphilis were the diseases of the day and there were no child labor laws til 1938.....doesn't sound very great to me
