There is actually a giant demographic that watches TV ads - and they vote.

There's two giant demographics that watch TV ads, and they vote for opposite sides. One already hates Trump, the other already hates Hillary. TV ads aren't going to change either group's minds.

In the past there was some balance to these two supposed 'polar opposites'. Part of the false choice.

Occasionally a real choice, against all odds, has the entire weight of the establishment against it.

I sort of doubt that, but I'm willing to change my mind in light of real evidence (it's not like I offered any either).

Edit - here's a 6 year old article that shows 86% of us are skipping ads. My hunch is to say, in 2016, that number is higher, not lower. The Guardian - TV advertising skipped by 86% of viewers

There a lot of old people out there, man. They vote in higher concentrations than most younger demographics. I don't know why you would doubt that a lot of people still watch TV just because young and middle aged people don't as often anymore.
