Actually, according to at least one news story, Trump had a meeting with the big members of the Republican party, both detailing his plan for the election and answering any questions they had, and now they all seem to believe that Trump can win the election in November.
At the moment, the only people who might still think that Trump could be forced out are the people on that tiny 28-person council who are trying to unbind delegates from voting for Trump as the nominee.

I hear you. However, I do believe the more sinister side of the GOP (most likely those in cahoots with the sinister side of the DNP) are going to try to do something,

I'm not so sure. They might be so crazy that they actually think that Trump has been completely ruined as a potential candidate, or that Hillary is good enough of a person to win on her own.
After all, they couldn't even keep their legion of "good" candidates in the running (even pulling Rubio out simply because he lost his home state, even though he was doing better nationwide than Kasich), and their "locked-in" Hillary stayed neck-and-neck with Sanders almost the entire primary (if you don't count the superdelegates that pledged their allegiance to her at basically the same instant that she announced her candidacy). They might have a history of corruptly trying to bend the system to their will, but it doesn't mean that they are very competent with it.
