What ideology? Just curious. I honestly couldn't give a fuck less about these shooters and I rarely research them. We all know why this shit happens and we all know how the MSM paints it.

It appears you may have inadvertently compared apples to oranges instead of comparing apples to apples. Considering Dylann Roof said, specifically, that he did the demonic act which he did because he wanted to start a Race War.

And I'm prrrrretty sure that we both can clearly see how Mateen's recent social, history verifies that his deep psychological troubles were NOT along the lines of desiring to start any type of LGBTQ vs heterosexual war.

Moreover, Dylann Roof's form of hate hath never subsided over the past 150 years and has actually increased on a national level since Obama beat McCain/spooked us status quo racists into thinking negroes were about to take over the USA. Whereas the savage level of hatred shown toward the LGBT community is a new phenomena escorted in via dissent. Yes, resistance toward Obama Admin. aiding Pop Culture with putting the LGBT community in charge of the American society.

From browsing Roof's Wikipedia page (I know that it isn't a fully reliable source), the only mention I can see of religion is that one pastor claimed that he went to a Lutheran church.

I've argued with people on Twitter telling me that Roof is an example of a Christian religious extremist (as part of their argument that Christianity is just as bad as Islam). No one has ever given me a source for their claim, no matter how many times I ask. Just a narrative thing, gotta keep pointing it out so that it doesn't stick.
