The thing is the comic never actually counters anything the Red Skull says with logic. They just makes sure his followers kill people so that we know he is the bad guy, and therefore all of his opinions and stances are bad too.

The red skull even says it in his speech, I'd bet they'll turn around and say that he's only spreading lies about the rapefugees.

Despite what the red skull is basically doing what Islamic state is actually doing.

What the actual fuck marvel?, <Batman quote about seeing yourself become a villain>.

I don't mind. If that's the opinion of Red Skull I'll switch sides and join Hydra.

But that's the whole point of the speech by the Red Skull or by any demagogue. Everything he says is reasonable and it makes sense, usually co-opted from some political movement of the time that grows out of dissatisfaction with the establishment. Then you join up and after you join up, when it comes to action all of a sudden the demagogue asks you to go one step closer to violence than you were willing to go yesterday. Then tomorrow it's one step further until eventually you're putting on a suicide vest to blow something up all for the glory of the demagogue.

And that's why Donald Trump isn't a demagogue because he's not asking people to go one step further towards violence every day. Donald Trump specifically advocates peace from his followers, something a demagogue wouldn't do. There's a huge difference between saying that there should be a temporary ban on Muslim immigration and that all Muslims should be deported regardless of citizenship.

Which, is what the current storyline has Captain America admitting...that he was Hydra all along. http://time.com/4347224/captain-america-hydra-agent-marvel-tom-brevoort/

That's the point of comic book villains though. Their anger is relate-able and the issues they raise are on point. The thing that makes them villains is that they are too extreme.

Killing migrants is not the solution, nor is suicide bombing.

This is not a call against disliking migrants, it's a call against extremism.

Especially funny considering the points he raised. Like either he's right and he's the good guy or they could have just said "that's not true stop making stuff up".

Joke's on them. Nobody reads comics anymore. Sales are plummeting.

On a side note, how the fuck is it possible for Marvel and DC to not make a killing on comics while the superhero movie fad is at its peak?

The actual comic book business has become ancillary to the merch and movie businesses. They already own the old storylines, the ones that made people fans in the first place. They can capitalize off of those for a very, very long time. So much so that it would be silly for them to allow daring, potentially offensive storytelling in the new comics, at the risk of offending any sensitive demographic. It would be better for them to offend the tiny, tiny minority of true fans, who still read comic books, than it would be for them to offend any major demographic of casual fans. A single potentially racist or sexist is panel in a comic will be endlessly reposted on tumblr, Facebook, and reddit, whereas shitty storytelling or deviation from the spirit of the original comic is only going to be posted on r/kotakuinaction, and Voat. You smell what I am stepping in?

I actually think this is more because Marvel started a comic streaming service for like 8 bucks a month. Retailers aren't getting sales anymore because it's a cheaper model to just subscribe and read them all.

But fuck Marvel and Disney.

Yeah, that's a biggie. The market is much more segmented than in past decades too, with more indie publishers, webcomics, people into manga, etc...

Although Boise has a point when you got uber-box office hits current pop culture phonmenom that you can't translate to comic sales? Not even getting into whether they are artistically good ones. That's incompetence I think. Bad focus.

Takes 6 months before newly released comics make it over to Unlimited.

Though I believe you can buy individual comics sooner.

Comics are for virtue signalling, movies and merchandise are the money makers.

Not just that but when is the last time you heard of a gang of white supremacists beating the shit out of some random black dude? Just doesn't really happen anymore. But a bunch of black guys jumping a white dude? Hell, it happens on a daily basis. I can think of 4 recent ones off the top of my head, none of which got much media coverage.

Meet Marvel's newest super-sensation: Strawman! His superpower is the ability to build people out of crop spoilage, call the result a criminal and then beat the shit out of them!

I can hardly wait for the movie.

Nationalism used to be a thing most americans strived for. Being happy about your place of birth is frowned upon nowadays, being white is frowned upon nowadays.

No wonder why white americans love trump. He embodies what we once stood for, loving america and loving yourself.

No matter what the msm says, being white isnt bad, you shouldnt be ashamed.

It's funny how this stuff works. These young impressionable kids will read this and it will stick with them for some time, then when someone complains about what's going on in one's own country they'll associate that person with Red Skull, terrorist, white supremacist or evil doers.

Remember Y'all Qaeda

Fortunately young impressionable kids don't read comics anymore. The only people that will see this are old enough to form their own opinions and, looking at comic sales trends, refuse to read it anyway.

I certainty hope you're right. I remember reading comics as a teen and not have any political agenda shoved down my throat. Those were the days but according to this comic that would make me a racist, bigoted, terrorist. Go figure.

Seen something similar on Reddit. Someone posted Edward Norton's rant from American History X and when a few Redditors said that he made a few valid points and others responded with, "I can't believe you people agree with a Nazi".

Are you talking about the dinner scene where they discuss riots? Norton brings up a lot of valid criticisms of current black culture there. The problem we find ourselves in is that some hear these truths and assume that things could never improve and thus we should eliminate this scourge from our communities. Others assume the same but believe we should bend over backwards even destroying ourselves in order to equalize the results rather than the behavior. Anyone can change their behavior, the responsibility of any community is to encourage behavior that is good for the group and discourage behavior that is destructive. We can only do that by placing responsibility square on the shoulders of the individual and exalting those who are exemplary. Current culture; socially, economically, politically, and professionally refuses to do this.
