The author of the article is largely on point, but I disagree with his stance on Christianity. The courtship rituals were bullshit, and needed to go. The reason people rejected Christian culture is because it's highly toxic in its own right. Christianity has a long history of ostracizing decent people from civil society for meaningless, petty reasons. Christians love to get off on finding silly excuses to abuse people for ultimately just not belonging to their little club. The churches should have never been allowed to have a voice in dictating civic behavior outside of religious activities. History has repeatedly shown that Christian dominated societies ultimately devolve into oppressive theocracies. If Christianity had been allowed to continue dominating American thought then it would have ended up coming into direct conflict with the scientific communities. Many of the technological developments of the 20th century simply would not have happened if their inventors had not been free to advance scientific inquiry.
