That's 11,088,000 feet. If you put one solider every 10 feet then that's 1,108,800 positions on the border. Each position would need to be staffed by 3 8 hour shifts, 7 days a week, giving 23,284,800 shifts.
You'd need 4,767,840 soldiers manning a post 40 hours a week for 24/7 coverage.
Our current active duty military numbers only 1,281,900 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Armed_Forces

I had to calculate staff needed in a previous job so it just felt natural for me to ponder the numbers of your suggestion - thanks for giving me something to think about, other than going crazy because of Hillary.
