A 10-year-old Wisconsin girl was held Monday on charges of first-degree homicide in the killing of an infant last week.
District Attorney Wade Newell said the girl, who NBC News is not identifying, stomped on the 6-month-old boy’s head at an in-home day care in the town of Tilden on Oct. 30, according to NBC affiliate WEAU.
The girl had panicked after dropping the infant, Newell said during a hearing at Chippewa County Circuit Court, the station reported.
"The child hit its head on the footstool and then the child started crying," Newell said, according to the station. She “didn't know what to do and didn't want to get into trouble and then she proceeded to stomp on the 6-month-old's head."
The boy, who authorities have not identified, was airlifted to a hospital in St. Paul, Minn., where he died on Nov. 1, Chippewa County Sheriff James Kowalczyk said in a statement.
In interviews with investigators from the sheriff’s office, the girl initially denied injuring the boy but later confessed, the statement said.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the girl had a lawyer. She was ordered held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, WEAU reported.

Exactly. Whoever let her pick up that child is responsible. Something is not right. What kind of environment does that child live in? She does not have a normal home life. What was she doing there? Was she helping take care of the children in a pinch? Even so, I have volunteered with children and some were quite rambunctious but I can truthfully say that none of them would have resorted to something like this. She should not be treated as an adult What are they trying to do, lately I have heard of other children very young, being tried like adults. Could there be something behind these cases? Children being perceived as grownups. But they are not.

Wisconsin judge ( Barry ??) was trying to change this. He did not want children in prison, felt they didn’t belong there and it served no purpose. They killed him
I thought this was a daycare situation. Where was the monitor ???? Yes she is an innocent child. This will certainly affect her no matter which way it goes

Who knows how this will end. Will she end up in CPS detention of some kind, being molested or raped and adding even more problems to the life of this Child. Who and Where is the mother of this Child I am wondering. Why was she at this daycare? So much missing.
