I would want them dead too, but death penalty actually ends up costing more in the end than even full life in prison, due to all the years of appeals, etc.

Death penalty. It needs to be changed so that they just execute them. They clearly proved guilt. That part is over.

Appeals are a contention that guilt was not proven. So you still have to deal with that.

That is the trotted out claim by those against the death penalty. I have not seen or run the numbers myself but I won't take their calculation on faith. And if true, it is a solvable problem. There is no law of nature that says that the cost of a death penalty case are higher than the cost of housing and feeding and clothing and SECURING them til death by natural causes.
