If the family can raise sufficient funds, there is the possibility of an appeal of the gag order.

It would be likely to win, since it is so unconstitutional.

One reason the judge may have wanted to keep the proceedings secret was that the prosecutor Janice Kroeger was very unprofessional. Her behavior might be enough to sink the case if the case itself were appealed.

Another way the family can get around the ban is to file a civil lawsuit against the families of the attacking children.

With the right legal representation, this could enable a hearing before a new judge, and would put the plainfiffs (Lacy's family and their lawyer) in the drivers seat, because they would have subpoena power, and there wouldn't be a biased prosecutor able to suppress information.
