Ireland has suffered badly at the hands of these sickos; there were magdalene laundries that basically legally kidnapped young women and their children and used them as slaves - until as recently as 1996, were renowned for emotional physical and sexual abuse. This was run by nuns primarily, females. There's long been stories of their delight at forcing young women through child birth without pain killers - to suffer for their sins, and then the children are taken away. Giant mass graves have been found, including 800 infants in a septic tank not that many years ago.

The male priests were no better, almost raping their way from town to town much like the vikings - crimes covered up under 'canon law', the idea that the laws of the state did not apply as they were above that and unanswerable to them. When questions were asked in one parish, the priest in question was moved to another town and the cycle continued.

The church had a psychological stranglehold on the common people of Ireland for decades, which is how they got away with so much.

Ireland is a prime example of how these ritualistic psychos can not only assimilate into society, but control it. Only in the last 15 to 20 years or so has the church started to lose its grip of control in Irish society. It was for a long time one of, if not the, most powerful organisations in Ireland, many of Ireland's archaic laws are as a direct result of the entwining of church and state.
