Boston's come a long way from its rural beginnings. That bridge wouldn't have even been possible in the times of before during and after the American Revolution being of which the freedom trail is based off of. During that time the two points in which the Charlestown bridge spans would have been underwater as the land reclamation projects starting in the 1830's had not taken place yet. Before and during the revolution Boston was very much the city on the hill, a hilly peninsula jutting out into Massachusetts bay and the Charles River encompassed a large fat tidal basin at its start. The Back Bay gets its name from when the Charles River Basin was mostly filled in and in which the neighborhood currently resides.
Enough with the history lesson I think your trying to illustrate with this photograph that the view doesn't really denote a historic or revolutionary feeling based on the modern and capitalistic nature of the surrounding environment? Correct me if I'm wrong.
