Luckily, Chris survived and is expected to make a recovery. Article about Chris

Edit: If it is okay with the mods, I would like to post this here. Chris' family has set up a Gofundme.

I've been hearing his name spread on social media and it makes me happy -- THIS is the Chris we should remember.

Could you offer proof that you actually went to school with this guy since you're claiming that you did?

Well now I see how. Look at all that body hair. The dude is probably almost pure testosterone. Mere bullets can't stop a hero made of testosterone.

That's it !

I'm never shaving again, taking away my bulletproof layer.

Good idea. Everyone should go full on Mintz with their body hair.

Yay! I'm so glad to see this. I heard the gunman's name 3 times this morning on the news and not once did I hear this hero's name. I hope his recovery goes as expected.

That probably won't happen. This administration doesn't celebrate self-reliance, self defense or any form of security that the federal government hasn't been part of.

It's a rare day I am proud to be a US veteran. It's sad it takes something like this.

I'll give you another reason from last night at a different event. Walter Terhune was a Vietnam veteran, known to his friends as "Buzz."

(Source) Witnesses later told officials that Terhune was withdrawing money from the ATM at the bank across the street when Bean was shot. They said Terhune saw a group of kids playing behind Town Hall and, being the decorated war veteran he was, he ran across the street to confront Tyson and get the children to safety.

That’s when officials say Tyson turned the gun on him, and killed him.

He deserves his own post, not just a footnote here.

Bruce Jenner is is a "hero" for dressing in drag, he even got an award for it. This man will be on the news for a few days, have months of physical therapy and pain ahead of him and will most likely receive no award. That is how fucked our country Is of late. This man is is a testament to what we should all strive for, bravery and selflessness in the face of almost certain death. It was his sons birthday and he put the lives of those around him ahead of his own and charged that deranged piece of shit bare handed. He took 7 bullets and Is still smiling, he is a real hero and America needs to learn the difference.

Some of the local banks have set up accounts for those willing to donate to victims and their families; I have not heard of anything specifically for him, however.

For those interested in giving financial assistance to the victims of UCC, accounts have been set up at Cascade Community Credit Union, Umpqua Bank and Rouge Credit Union. Umpqua is making an initial donation of $25,000 and Rogue is matching donations up to $2,500. All money donated goes directly to the victims and their families.
